If you can’t go far enough on vacation, Florida, British Columbia, Kenya, Bali, and Colombia are ideal travel destinations during the summer vacation.
1. Florida (USA)
You get a lot of sun when you spend part of your summer vacation in the Sunshine State of Florida. Miami, the Everglades, and the Florida Keys are among the destinations that vacationers like to visit. In Miami, take a seat in the free Metromover, a monorail that runs through the metropolis at the height of several meters. Miami Beach can be found on one of the offshore city islands. This is where the famous Ocean Drive runs, which many people see when they hear “Miami.” A trip to the water-flooded marshland of the Everglades is part of a vacation in Florida. Take a trip on the boat and see mangroves and alligators. The Florida Keys are a chain of islands that extend about 300 km south of Florida. If you drive with the rental car to the westernmost island of Key West, you have crossed 42 bridges. As in Florida, there is a Caribbean flair.
2. British Columbia (Canada)
The summer vacation is the appropriate time to vacation in British Columbia (British Columbia). The Canadian province bordering the Pacific is two and a half times the size of Germany, so booking a rental car is recommended if you want to see as much as possible. In several national parks, nature-loving holidaymakers can admire the plants and animals of Western Canada, for example, on Vancouver Island in the Pacific Rim National Park. Make sure to hike along the West Coast Trial there. The Helmcken Falls are a spectacular part of the Wells Gray Provincial Park on the Canadian mainland. Yoho National Park is located in the Rocky Mountains, where you will come across mountain goats, elk and deer while hiking. In addition to impressive national parks, British Columbia also has vineyards to offer, which you certainly did not expect. With Vancouver, you are visiting the largest city in the province. During your stay, you will only see more recent buildings, as Vancouver was only founded in 1886.
3. Kenya (Africa)
You don’t have to fly to the Maldives or Seychelles for a vacation in the Indian Ocean, try Kenya for the upcoming summer vacation, which is then a dry season. There are resorts with beach access along the coast. You also have the option of staying in a hotel in Mombasa. The country’s second-largest city can also have a beach. If you want to combine holidays in Kenya with culture, have a look at the old town in Mombasa. It is located on an island in a bay directly on the mainland. The capital Nairobi is located in the country’s center, where you can stock up on local products at the Maasai market. At the gates of the capital, the Nairobi National Park awaits with a breeding station for rhinos and elephants. Kenya is particularly suitable for safaris!
4. Bali (Indonesia)
If you are in Bali during the summer vacation time, you have caught the dry season. The island, which belongs to Indonesia, offers relaxing hours on the beach as well as beautiful nature and cultural experiences. The tourist center of the island is located in the south near the capital Denpasar. In Kuta, Legian and Seminyak, you will meet many other sun worshipers, and if you want to learn to surf, you are in good hands in this corner of the island. Use your vacation in Bali for trips through the interior of the island, where you will encounter tropical vegetation, provided you do not pass cultivated areas. The latter include, for example, the rice terraces of Tegallalang. Tours to Gunung Batur, an active volcano, are also popular, next to which there is a large crater lake. The 3,142 m high Gunung Agung is, according to the Balinese, the “seat of the gods.” You can visit beautiful temples on the dream island of Bali, such as the water temple Ulun Danu Bratan or the Pura Sri Saraswathi temple in Ubud, where the cultural center of the island is located.
5. Colombia (South America)
If you start your Colombia vacation, for example, in the capital Bogota. Here you can breathe the mountain air, because the city is more than 2,600 m above sea level. The second largest city, Medellín, is also inland. Due to the pleasant climate (the temperatures are mainly between 16 ° C and 30 ° C), Medellín is nicknamed the “City of Eternal Spring“. Visit the Caribbean coast, the most beautiful colonial buildings in Colombia await you in Cartagena. Here you will also meet most of the holidaymakers in the country. The old town is still completely surrounded by a wall and in the evenings the bear pounds in Cartagena. After so many different cultural impressions, it’s time to unpack your swimwear. You can do this on the city beach or on one of the offshore islands. An hour’s boat ride away, for example, is the paradisiacal Islas del Rosario.
